The resistance measuring circuit (10) has a microcontroller (12) with a number of switch terminals (14,16,18,20) and a cut-out terminal (22). The switch terminals are respectively connected to a capacitor (40), a pair of reference resistances (44,48) and the measured resistance (46), the reference resistances and the capacitor forming an RC element. A comparator (50) is coupled to the cut-out terminal of the microcontroller, which has a control (52) used to operate the switch terminals and a counter (54) coupled to the cut-out terminal.
