<p>PURPOSE:To enable a highly accurate tracking without recording a specific signal on a magnetic tape by controlling a phase of a control signal from the magnetic tape, controlling the quantity of phase shift of a phase shifter by a level detecting means, while controlling scanning on a tape of a rotary magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:When adjustment is required by a command from a host system, a magnetic tape is wound on a tape guiding drum, and error in the direction of azimuth is adjusted in a reproducing mode. A CPU209 varies a phase of a CTL signal from a CTL head 12 in the range of 0 degree to 720 degrees. When the CPU209 judges that at least one of levels RFA-RFC of envelope of a high frequency signal in the prescribed points A-C of a tilt track from an A/D converter 207 is larger than 0, the CTL signal when the level is made larger than 0 is varied in the range of theta+ or -180 degrees. When a level FRB is the maximum, the CPU209 varies azimuth reference voltage for a servo circuit 204, if RFA=RFC, after storing reference voltage for the circuit 204, adjusts error in the direction of azimuth during reproducing mode.</p> |
