<p>PURPOSE:To shorten the time required for the assembly and disassembly processings of ATM cells. CONSTITUTION:The short cell of the length of 1/N (n is an integer) of the payload length of the ATM cell is used and the new format of the ATM cell for inserting the short cell to the payload of the ATM cell is adopted. In the case of assembling the ATM cell from STM data, the short cells are assembled first, the completely assembled short cells are inserted to the payload of the ATM cell and thus, the ATM cell is assembled. Reversely, in the case of disassembling the ATM cell and converting it to the STM data, the inputted ATM cell is disassembled into the short cells first, distribution is performed corresponding to the opposite party information of the short cells and the STM data stored in the payload of the distributed short cells are sent out to an output line according to the opposite party information.</p> |
