PURPOSE:To obtain an ultra long distance using the soliton control by an optical modulator and ultra large capacity using wavelength multiplexing by sending plural light solitons which differ in wavelength by one optical fiber at the same time. CONSTITUTION:A transmission device 1 consists of a soliton light source 1 and a wavelength multiplexing device 2, a reception device 12 consists of a wavelength multiplexing device 2, a wavelength demultiplexing device 4, an optical filter 5, an optical modulator 6, and a clock signal extraction device 7, and a reception device 13 consists of a wavelength demultiplexing device 4 and a photodetector 8. Then the light solitons which are different in wavelength are sent by one optical fiber 3 at the same time. The wavelength demultiplexing is performed in a repeating device 12, the soliton control by the wavelengths is performed by the modulator 6, and then multiplexing is performed again. Consequently, a system which makes a long-distance communication effectively utilizes the construction of facilities to reduce the cost. |
