<p>PURPOSE:To provide a DC electric furnace which makes it possible to increase the efficiency of electric energy to melt metal material without deteriorating the work environment in an operation of feeding preheated metal material to the middle inside a furnace body simultaneously with preheating of the metal material by exhaust gas at an increased efficiency. CONSTITUTION:On a furnace lid 3 a preheating tower 5 is placed, which is for storing metal material 6, has in the upper part a charging hole 8 for feeding metal material 6 and an exhaust-gas duct 9 for conveying the exhaust gas to dust-collecting equipment, and holds inside the metal material 6 with movable doors 7 above the furnace lid 3. There is provided a driving device which makes the furnace lid 3 and furnace body 1 shift their relative position; the furnace lid 3 has such a shape that, when it has been moved, the furnace lid 3 covers the top part of the furnace body 1 completely and always keeps the inside of the furnace tightly closed.</p> |
