PURPOSE:To convert a KANJI (Chinese character) character string into another homophonic KANJI character string only by specifying the range of a defined KANJI character string and depressing a reconversion key. CONSTITUTION:When the range of a KANJI character string is specified by the reconversion key, a KANJI/KANA (Japanese syllabary) conversion means 8 acquires a KANJI code string for the KANJI character string whose range is specified from a document memory 3, retrieves a corresponding KANA code string from a defined word memory 7 based upon the KANJI code string and sets up the retrieved code string in the memory 3 as an undefined KANA code string. When KANA/KANJI conversion is specified by a conversion key, a KANA/KANJI conversion means 4 retrieves a KANJI code string to be a conversion candidate from a word dictionary 5 based upon the undefined KANA code string set up in the memory 3 and sets up the retrieved result in the memory 3. When definition is specified by a define key, a defining processing means 6 defines the KANJI code string set up in the memory 3 and registers the defined KANJI code string in the memory 7 correspondingly to the KANA code string to be the reading of the KANJI code string. |
