PURPOSE:To satisfactory carry out vertical agitation without increasing the burden of horizontal agitation by uniformly discharging developer retained in a guide in the width direction as it is when the opening of the guide faces downward. CONSTITUTION:In a developing chamber, a doctor blade 85 which is carried by a developing roller 84 and prepared for controlling the amount of developer to be carried to a part opposite to a photoreceptor drum 1, an upper carrying screw 86 for carrying a part of the developer controlled by the doctor blade 85 and pushed into the developing chamber from the behind to the front in the center axis direction and a guide 87 for the screw 86 are installed. The guide 87 is provided with a through like upper opening whose width corresponds to the width of the doctor blade 85, and it contributes to the vertical agitation in the developing chamber in accordance with the rotation of a revolver developing unit. And when the opening of the guide 87 faces downward in accordance with the rotation of the developing unit after the developer controlled by the doctor blade 85 is received by the guide 87 for the developing device in the process of a developing operation, the developer retained in the guide 87 is discharged into the developing device through the opening, and then, the vertical agitation is carried out. |
