PURPOSE: To obtain a low-loss boost converter by connecting a snubber inductor in series with a diode, connecting a second diode and a resistor in series with the series circuit, and further connecting a third diode between a common point between the diode and the snubber inductor and an input terminal. CONSTITUTION: The turn-off of a boost diode D1 is delayed by a snubber inductor LS, and its inverse recovery loss is minimized. Also, the snubber inductor LS prevents a rapid start-up of a current and minimizes the turn-on switching loss of a power switch F1 . Further, a voltage applied to the power switch F1 is clamped to the value of the output voltage of a converter during a turn-off by a series circuit of a resistive impedance RS and a snubber diode D2 , thus suppressing a ringing current and hence minimizing the turn-off loss of the boost diode D1 and at the same time, reducing the switching loss of the power switch F1 . |
