摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the heat-insulating property, make the heat capacity relatively small, and improve the thermal shock resistance by using for the furnace wall an inorganic fiber-based refractory brick containing a specific amount of heat-resisting inorganic fiber in a loose, granular state. CONSTITUTION:The subject relates to a crucible furnace having a crucible inside a combustion chamber which is enclosed by furnace walls consisting of moldings of a refractory material. In this instance the furnace walls 2 are formed of inorganic fiber-based refractory brick which contains 30-70wt.% of heat-resisting inorganic fiber in a loose, granular state. To make the inorganic fiber-based refractory brick, a mixture of 30-70wt.% of the heat-resisting inorganic fiber in a loose, granular state, 10-50wt.% of inorganic refractory powder, and 10-30wt.% of colloidal silica is molded into brick in shape with addition of water, fired at 1,200-1,400 deg.C, and formed into a ring-shaped molding or ring-shaped molding divided into a plurality of components. The diagram shows an example in which a crucible 6 is placed inside a combustion chamber 5, enclosed by a furnace wall 2, hearth 3, and furnace lid 4 and with a heating burner 7 in the lower part inside the combustion chamber 5.
