PURPOSE:To improve focus detecting accuracy in a focus detecting area at the peripheral part of a photographic image plane. CONSTITUTION:In the case of detecting the focusing state of a photographing optical system in the 1st belt-like focus detecting area 311A which does not include an intersection between the photographic image plane and the optical axis of a photographing optical system and is arranged in the tangential direction of concentric circles with center at the intersection and the 2nd belt-like focus detecting area 311B which does not include the intersection and is arranged in the radial direction of the circle arround the intersection, the focus detecting operation in the 1st area 311A where the vignetting of a luminous flux for detecting focus hardly occurs and the focus detecting accuracy is high takes priority over the focus detecting operation in the 2nd area 311B. |
