PURPOSE:To obtain a method of making device description at maximum with a minimum data quantity and a method of coloring using the description method. CONSTITUTION:A memory 123 stores characteristic information of a recording section 122 received from a receiver side. Arithmetic sections 103-108 calculate a color reproduction prediction equation and discrimination sections 110-115 discriminate whether or not a prediction equation entered from a corresponding arithmetic section satisfies the color reproduction condition based on the information stored in the memory 123. The section 117 is an image processing section and applies image processing for recording or display based on the prediction equation selected by a selection section 116 to image data 101. |
