The invention relates to a device making it possible for the steering wheel to turn idly in order to prevent any action on the wheels. It consists of a moulded metal shell A into which is screwed a female die C which fits into the location of the steering wheel on the steering rod M and the shoulder 2 of which restrains the blocking part B via an internal edge while allowing a rotation. A male die D, including a splined cone M' identical to the cone M of the steering rod onto which the steering wheel will be refitted, is screwed onto the blocking part B which drives or does not drive the shell, depending on whether the bit 3 of a security cylinder 4a, placed in this shell and actuated by a suitable key, fits or withdraws from housings 5, 5bis and 5ter a blocking pad 5a which, when entirely retracted into its housing 5, releases the blocking part B connected to the male die D and to the steering wheel which turns idly. When this pad is halfway between its housing 5 and the housings 5bis and 5ter, it blocks the blocking part B which, under the action of the steering wheel, then drives the shell and the steering rod. <IMAGE> |
