<p>PURPOSE:To set and alter settings of a printer by setting predetermined default settings unless a duplex data communication with the printer can be made. CONSTITUTION:This device makes a duplex check for deciding whether the duplex data communication can be made between the printer 1 and a personal computer 3. By this check, it is decided whether or not the printer 1 is adaptive to the duplex data communication. When the printer 1 is not in duplex mode, the CPU 7 reads a duplex communication negative acknowledgement message and previously set default set values out of a ROM 8, sets the default set values in the printer 1, and displays the duplex communication negative acknowledgement message and default set values. An operator looks at those displays and know information on the printer 1. Here, the set values can be altered on a keyboard 5 or by operating a mouse 6. Then the altered set values are outputted on the printer 1 and the operation environment is set.</p> |
