CURRENT POSITION DETERMINATION METHOD AND DEVICE

PURPOSE:To automatically and accurately determine a current grid which a user is currently located by specifying block information based on broadcasting station data which are transmitted after being multiplexed into broadcasting electric wave. CONSTITUTION:It is judged whether received broadcasting electric wave is transmitted from a broadcasting station (RBDS station) transmitting RBDS data. Then, a call sign of the RBDS station transmitting broadcasting electric wave where a PI code is multiplexed is calculated from the extracted PI code by a CPU 7. A grid file is immediately searched based on the PI code and a grid number is specified. The frequency information in a broadcasting station information file which is detected is compared with the frequency of the transmission electric wave of the RBDS station which is currently receiving signal and it is recognized that the broadcasting station information file corresponds to a broadcasting station which is currently receiving signal when both match. Then, the grid number is read from the confirmed broadcasting station information file and a current grid is set.
