Described is a reactor for the treatment, in particular the cracking, of hydrocarbons, the reactor comprising at least one input chamber (12) with at least one input port (10), an output chamber (16) with at least one output port (14) and at least one reactor unit (18) connecting the input chamber (12) to the output chamber (16). The reactor unit (18) has a first tube (20) the near end (22) of which allows fluid to flow in from the input chamber (12). The reactor unit (18) also has a second tube (26) into the far end (28) of which the far end (24) of the first tube (20) projects and whose near end (30) allows fluid to flow into the output chamber (16). At least parts of the first and second tubes (20, 26) have a common wall (32).
