A transmission unit for an injection moulding machine produces both stroking and rotational movement and comprises an axially movable and rotatable shaft (1) with a cylindrical surface containing grooves (4, 5) running from both ends. Grooves (4) at one end are offset circumferentially from grooves (5) at the other end and are connected with each other at the centre of the shaft (1) by transition grooves (6). A guiding pin (3) engages with and follows the groove (4, 5, 6).
