PURPOSE:To optionally vary a newly generated timbre by controlling a rate at which timbres are interpolated according to reception intervals of timbre specification data specifying the timbres and then only varying intervals of the transmission of the timbre specification data. CONSTITUTION:After a timbre-A button 32 is pressed, one of timbre selection buttons 30a-30h is pressed to specify the timbre of the timbre number of the pressed timbre selection button as a timbre A and after a timbre-B button 34 is pressed, one of timbre selection buttons 30a-30h is pressed to specify the timbre of the timbre number of the pressed timbre selection button as a timbre B. Then when the interpolation of the timbres A and B is specified by operating a slider 38 and a set button 36 is pressed, a sound source 50 automatically generates a series of musical performance data with which a 3rd timbre C can be generated by interpolating the timbres A and B and the data are stored as musical performance data in the ROM 20 of an automatic playing device 10. Here, the interpolation rate of the timbres A and B is determined according to time interval specifying the two timbres of MIDI data. |
