Door lock for dishwasher or washing machine

The door lock uses a handle on the front which works either directly or via a release lever against an electrically-powered safety switch and against the lock lever on the back of the door. The fork-shaped lock lever mates with a lock bolt on the machine housing. It 10 is overhung on the door in bearings and when the door is open, it is secured in the unlocked position by a permanent magnet. This magnet is either outside the door or within the lock housing inside the door. There is a locking element which moves in the path of the lock lever and which is engaged or released by the safety switch.
