<p>A device for rotating a fiber consists of two parts, a rear part used for holding the fiber in stripping, cutting operations, etc. and a front part used for the very rotation of the fiber. Lid halves (3, 5) are hinged at each part, at a base plate (1), the lids being maintained in their swung-down positions by magnets (15, 17). The rear lid (3) can be somewhat opened by a swinging movement through a small angle, for releasing the fiber, so that a rotation thereof is enabled. The swinging movement is provided by means of a knob (45) which can be rotated through an angle of approximately a quarter of a full turn. Then a protrusion (47) is screwed inwards or outwards and is capable of lifting the rear lid (3). A displaceable slide or rectangular part (21) located in the front lid (5) acts on a fiber placed in a groove (7) in order to rotate it when the slide (21) is displaced and the groove (7) has a shape of a shallow V-groove in the region of the slide (21). The slide has therefor been provided with a surface layer or cushion (25) in engagement with the fiber, the surface layer or cushion having a high friction and being preferably made of rubber, and the slide engages well the fiber when the front lid (5) is in a swung-down position. The slide is acted on, in one direction by a knob (35) and for the displacement of the slide in the opposite direction acts the force obtained from return springs (33).</p> |
