The bumper comprises a longitudinal profile designed to absorb the energy of collision in an impact. The bumper (1) has a longitudinally extending region (2), which firstly collision force by controlled blocking or yielding, and secondly acts as a counter hold at the end regions (3a, 3b). The bumper is manufactured using a drawn extrusion process and comprises a mainly closed hollow metal profile. The absorber/counter hold region (2) comprises a front cross-sectionally wider outer region, which reduces to a smaller inner region.
