In a housing is mounted at least one stroke element, driven by a rotary axis of a motor, and cyclically varying the vol. of a compression chamber (35). From the housing is brought out at least one inlet and outlet duct of the compression chamber, which is located at the intersection point of the drive (4) and stroke (X) axes. Pref. the stroke elements (6,7,60) are movable by a rotary drive member, associated directly with the drive motor. The member is typically a directly driven eccentric or cam drive, or an epicyclic gearbox.
