<p>An apparatus for releasably connecting a building's roof structure (10) to its perimeter wall structure (20) to facilitate vertical expansion of the building includes a truss spacer (130) to space the truss (110) from the upper surface of the perimeter wall's top plate (122), a coupler (132) to connect a roof truss (110) of the roof structure (10) to the spacer (130), and a ceiling support beam (140) fixed to the upper surface of the top plate (122) to support the building's internal ceiling structure (123) when the truss (110) is separated from the top plate (122) by selectively separating one of the connections between the spacer (130) and top plate (122), coupler (132) and spacer (130), or truss (110) and coupler (132). A device for lifting the roof structure includes a bracket (151) connected to each of the truss's rafters (111 and 112) and a lifting member (155) coupled to the brackets (151) at a supporting end and having a lifting end disposed above the roof's covering (122) to permit application of a lifting force to lift the roof structure (10).</p> |
