The ultrasound probe (1) has a swan neck configuration with a thicker top end (2) where the centre of gravity lies. The top end is flat on the underside (3) which runs parallel to the axis (8). There is a gap (7) running the whole length of the probe. There are adjustable extensions (11,12) which can be attached to the handle (9).
