The system consists of an anchor (7) which has its foot (6) lying flush with the hull of the vessel at its stem, with its chain (10) passing through a hawse-hole (5) and with its outlet situated below the waterline. The anchor comprises a shank (9) and a foot, and has two guide fins on either side of the shank to position it centrally in the hawse hole. The foot of the anchor can have four flukes. The hawse hole is in the form of a tube which can be surrounded by a second tube, with the space between the two filled with a noise and vibration insulating material.
