Fodder bales are grouped together, or separated, by a sledge. This has a fixed chassis (1), on side bearing wheels, with two movable parts (2), on the chassis, which may be separated, or brought together. Several actuators (3), operated from hydraulic power on the tractor, may extend or contract the moving parts, depending on whether grouping or allowing separation, of bales.Electrical sensors (5) on each actuator may signal the movement of the extending parts, at start and finish of their deployment. The actuators may be double acting.
