Safety helmet mfr., of increased durability due to one-piece construction

The mfr. of. a safety helmet comprising upper and lower shells with impact damping foam between involves placing both shells in a tool cavity, closing the tool and introducing a foamable material. Process equipment comprises: i) a frame (6) with vertical supports (121) near the mould centre line and shock absorbers (61) at ther ear of the frame; and ii) a mould (1) attached to the supports (121) and moving between a horizontal position supported by the shock absorbers (61) and a tilted position. The mould (1) has a lower part (12) swivelling on the supports (121) and an upper part (11) pivoted on the rear of the lower part (12) and moving relative to the latter (12) to form a cavity (15). A clamp (14) holds both tool parts (11,12) together. An outlet (131) extends from the cavity (15) to the rear face of the tool (1) and a flange running around the cavity (15) ends on opposing sides of the outlet (131). A locating system (62,122) holds the mould (1) in the tilted position.
