PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of malfunction in interrupting processing by deciding whether RDS data can be demodulated or not from a received broadcasting wave, and when the demodulation disabled state of the RDS data continues more than a prescribed time in the interrupting state, transferring the current state to an interruption waiting state. CONSTITUTION:A detecting output from an FM detector 4 is supplied to a multiplex(MPX) demodulating circuit 5 and outputted as a reproduced audio signal through a function switching circuit 19. A radio data signal is extracted by passing the detecting output of the FM detector 4 through a filter 6 and demodulated by a PLL circuit 7 and the demodulated output is supplied to a digital PLL circuit 8 and a decoder 9. Whether the radio data system(RDS) data can be demodulated or not is decided from a received broadcasting wave, and when the demodulation disabled state of the RDS data continues more than the prescribed time in the interruption processing state, the current state is transferred to the interruption waiting state. Consequently, the generation of malfunction in the interruption processing due to unaccurate demodulation data can be prevented.
