The invention concerns aqueous dispersions of cationic and anionic surfactants which have a high degree of stability during storage and advantageous viscosity and which contain: (a) quaternized fatty acid ester salts; and (b) alkyl and/or alkenyl sulphates, in a weight ratio of 85:15 to 95:5. The dispersions are suitable for preparing brightening agents.
