The invention concerns an integral, removable loading area lining having soundproofing properties for motor vehicles and comprising an upper shell (2) and a lower shell (1). The upper shell (2) is substantially flat and is connected such that it can be folded to the lower shell (1) which is adapted to the contour of the luggage compartment area, thus producing a complete unit which has a considerable acoustic effect by virtue of the double wall principle. The upper shell (2) further comprises cover sections (19, 20) which can be unfolded by means of hinges, so producing closed recesses (4, 5, 6, 7) of varying depths in conjunction with the contour-following shape of the lower shell (1), in particular as storage compartments for accommodating accessories, luggage or the like, in the manner of a so-called active noise control system.
