The inside of the hub housing (1) is sealed by a locking ring (8) mounted between a collar (4a) of the axle shaft (4) and the bearing (3), by a packing ring (9) interacting through a sealing face with the locking ring, and by a sealing ring (10) interacting with the packing ring. The packing ring is connected rotationally secured with the hub housing. The locking ring and sealing ring are connected rotationally to the axle shaft. The packing ring can be made of coloured metal and the locking ring of stainless steel. The sealing ring is made of sheet steel and is installed with its sealing face adjoining the packing ring under pre-tension.
