Inverter of the type receiving a d.c. input signal and supplying an alternating output signal with a predetermined wave form. According to the invention, said inverter consists of an input signal processing circuit comprising, in particular: a unit (1) for chopping and modulating an input signal over two parallel channels (5, 6), each channel shaping a complementary portion of a high frequency chopped and low frequency modulated intermediate signal according to the predetermined wave form; a unit (2) for transforming voltage over two parallel channels (7, 8), each channel changing the voltage of a complementary portion of the intermediate signal from the corresponding channel of the chopping and modulating unit (1); a unit (3) for restoring the intermediate signal by combining both complementary portions of the intermediate signal from the two channels (7, 8) of the voltage transforming unit (2); and a unit (4) for low-pass filtering of the intermediate signal from the restoring unit (3), said low-pass filtering unit (4) supplying said alternating output signal with a predetermined wave form.
