Building material mixt. contains a binder and an additive partially formed of broken glass. Process for the recovery of the additive is also claimed. The additive for the building mixt. is recovered by forming broken glass by crushing used glass and sorting into particle sizes. The broken glass is made from non-recyclable waste glass. The additive is made of a mixt. of broken glass and gravel and/or chippings and/or further materials. The binder is cement, bitumen or lime. The amt. of broken glass present is 5-40 wt.% when the binder is cement, or bitumen, and 3-20 (pref. 10) wt.% when the binder is lime.
