The device has a wiping unit (1-4) in contact with the belt but with displaced rotation. The device is mounted on the conveyor frame (22) and the position and/or the orientation of the wiping unit relative to the belt is adjusted via a regulating device (5-8,12) on which the wiping unit is mounted.The regulating device has at least two units which carry the wiper unit in at least two positions. These units comprise a linkage (6) on the connecting profile (5) to which the wiper element is connected and a lever arm (7) and spring package (8) producing a force via the wiper on the belt.
