Use of controlled microwave radiation for tyre vulcanisation

The tyre blank has the usual beads, carcass, belt and treads, but without metallic content. The blank is heated and moulded under pressure, causing vulcanisation. Part of the energy for vulcanisation is supplied as microwave energy in accordance with application P4329145.7. The temp. in the tyre is controlled, esp. depending on its growth in differing localities. Sensors on the tyre and/or hot mould are provided for this purpose. The appts. used in the above method is also claimed.
