The assembly comprises a table top 12 to the underside of which is mounted a power/communication housing 18 having first and second passages 56, 58 isolated from each other via a wall 54, with cabling for power and communication placed within the passages 56, 58, respectively. Power and communication receptacles 122, 156 are mounted to the housing 18 and an opening 26 is formed in the table top for allowing cables to be passed through it to provide engagement with the receptacles 122, 156. An access door 46 interconnected with the housing 18 conceals the cables below the table top and the power and communication receptacles 122, 156. The housing may be an extruded moulding extending the length of the table top and may be provided with axially extending connectors (Fig 4) whereby the assembly may be used in modular form combined with other similar assemblies. The table top is supported by a leg assembly which includes a vertical tubular leg with a foot mounted to the lower end thereof. Such a leg is used to channel external cabling to the housing. <IMAGE>
