<p>A sharps disposal system (10) providing a frame (400) and a container (200) having an opening (210) and being selectively mountable to the frame (400). A lid (100) is pivotally attached to the frame (400) and is selectively movable into engagement with the container (200) when the container (200) is mounted to the frame (400). Engaging the container (200) with the lid (100) closes the opening (210) except for an aperture (110) through which sharps can be inserted into the container (200) but which impedes insertion of human hands. Engaging the container (200) with the lid (100) also impedes removal of the container (200) from the frame (400). The system employs a means for selectively locking the lid (100) into engagement with the container (200). The system further provides a cover (300) for selectively sealing the opening (210).</p> |
