Process and apparatus for forming one or more layers (122) of photohardened material by irradiating a photoformable composition (104) with actinic radiation through transmission means having one surface (102 sec ) at least partially in contact with said composition (104) so as to form an interface therewith, said transmission means comprising a semi-permeable film (102) through which material (110 min ) serving to inhibit adhesion of photohardened material (122) to the film (102) e.g. by formation of a release coating (110) and/or by inhibition of photoformation at the interface, permeates into said interface.
