Electro-hydraulic ship's drive

The electro-hydraulic drive has at least one electric motor, providing the torque for rotating the ship's propeller (9) via a hydraulic system, with a switching device for selecting the direction of rotation. A hydraulic pump (3) supplies a pressurised oil stream directed onto a pair of paddle wheels (6,7) via stationary slit-shaped jets (10) at the paddle wheel periphery. The paddle wheels rotate in opposite directions and are coupled together, for driving a common drive shaft (8) for the propeller. The pump is contained in a hermetically sealed housing (4) receiving the hydraulic fluid.
