<p>A heat exchanger, for example an evaporator, includes a plurality of heat conductive plates (16,18, figure 3) forming first and second headers (30,32, figure 4) through associated apertures (25,27) in the plates. A coupling member 70 coupling the evaporator to a coolant circuit includes first and second header coupling portions 84,86 locatable between two plates (16',18') of the evaporator so as to be disposed within the first and second headers (30,32) and a nozzle 80 for passage of coolant into or out of the evaporator. Each of the first and second header coupling portions 84,86 includes apertures 88,90 equivalent to apertures (25,27) forming headers (30,32). The apertures 88,90 84,86 are arranged symmetrically. The coupling member 70 can thus be mounted in a number of orientations in the evaporator, thereby facilitating design of the evaporator and also location of the evaporator in its operative place. The plates (16',18') are preferably substantially flat.</p> |
