A ferrite carrier for electrophotographic developers comprises a lithium ferrite of formula (Li2O)x (Fe2O3)100-x (I), wherein x is not more than 16.7 mol.%, and 3-15 mol.%, based on the lithium ferrite, of the Li2O and/or Fe2O3 is substd. with an alkaline earth metal oxide. Also claimed is an electrophotographic developer comprising a toner and the above ferrite carrier.
