PURPOSE:To promote not only the fermentation rate of ethanol but also repetitively use a culture medium and continuously and efficiently obtain the ethanol by carrying out the fermentation with a yeast in the presence of active carbon in at least an anaerobic atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:This method for producing ethanol is to prepare a culture medium by using glucose as a fermentation raw material, place the resultant culture medium in a glass container, add Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a baker's yeast thereto, further add active carbon, pass high-purity nitrogen gas which is passed through an oxygen absorbent, carry out the fermentation at 30 deg.C temperature in an anaerobic atmosphere, then add the glucose and active carbon thereto and repetitively perform the proliferation of the yeast. Since not only the fermentation rate of the ethanol is promoted but also the culture medium can repetitively be used, the efficiency of the continuous fermentation is raised to industrially and advantageously obtain the ethanol by this fermentation method. |
