INSPECTION AND RECOGNITION APPARATUS FOR BLACK PRINT ON COLOR BACKGROUND

PURPOSE:To provide an apparatus which can extract black efficiently and stably at low cost in printing inspection and recognition of black-printed patterns and letters on a color background and which can be introduced for assortment in printing inspection and product distributing line immediately behind a printing apparatus. CONSTITUTION:An image of an object in which a background color is already printed on the ground and further black patterns and letters 4 are printed on it is taked by a color camera 1, the taken color image 5 is taken in an image accumulating part 6, and characteristic color information 10 is given to a black extracting condition computing part 7 to obtain black extracting conditions. Necessary images are supplied to a black extracting part 8 under the black extracting conditions 11 from the image accumulating part 6 and an image 12 extracted by black extraction and composed of binary signals or an image 12 in graduation is obtained. The image 12 composed of binary signals or in gradation is processed by a black extracting image processing part 9 and inspection/recognition of printed patterns and letters with black color on the color background is carried out.
