PURPOSE:To bend a terminal of a cloth at a sewed portion as the root when gas starts to spout so as to hold the size of exhaust holes provided in an air bag by sewing the vicinity of the exhaust holes and providing slits from a direction of a center of the hole in such a manner that they come into contact with or cross the sewed portion. CONSTITUTION:An air bag is provided with an opening 5 for mounting an inflater and exhaust holes 4. In the manufacture of the air bag, it is provided with a plurality of slits 7, 7' in radial direction from positioning holes 6, 6' and a central part of the hole when a lower cloth 1 for air bag and a reinforcing cloth 3 to be superposed on the lower cloth are cut. Then, after both clothes 1, 3 are superposed in a condition to coincide with the positioning holes 6, 6' each other and sewed at a plurality of sections at a predetermined diameter of sewing, the exhaust holes 4 are made around the positioning holes 6, 6' at a center. When this air bag inflates, a terminal of the clothes is restricted by a sewed portion at an innermost periphery and bent so that the size of the exhaust holes 4 is held in a favorable condition.
