FIBER-REINFORCED ELASTOMER AND TRANSMISSION BELT MADE THEREOF

PURPOSE:To provide a fiber-reinforced elastomer by firmly bonding a polyester fiber to a chlorosulfonated polyolefin and to provide a transmission belt made of this elastomer and improved in dynamic bonding strength. CONSTITUTION:A chlorosulfonated polyolefin having a chlorine content of 15-35wt.% and sulfur content of 0.5-2.5wt.% and used as a rubbery polymer component is reinforced with a polyester fiber. In this reinforcement, the polyester fiber is treated with two adhesives. An adhesive containing an isocyanate compound and/or an epoxy compound is adopted as the adhesive used in the first treatment. An adhesive comprising a mixture essentially consisting of resorcinol/formaldehyde resin and a 2,3-dichlorobutadiene-containing polymer is adopted as the adhesive used in the second treatment. A wetting agent is added to the second adhesive. The bonded rubber layer 2 of a v-ribbed belt is made of this elastomer.
