PURPOSE: To provide a device for clearly releasing double polymer covers from an optical fiber over a comparatively long length. CONSTITUTION: The device for removing polymer covers 12 and 13 from a length L of the optical fiber having a lengthwise axis and one terminal, has one blade 152, for example, at least for cutting these polymer covers at a 1st position away from the terminal of the optical fiber just for the distance L, and this blade is movable, moved from the 1st position to the terminal of the fiber after the cutting of polymer covers at the 1st position and removes the polymer covers from the length L of the optical fiber. Further, this device is composed of plural blades 152, 154 and 156, for example, for cutting the polymer covers and one blade is positioned at least so as to cut the polymer covers at a 2nd position away from the terminal of the optical fiber just for a distance L' (L' is shorter than L). |
