Specific hyperimmune anti-hiv globulin for passive immunization

This invention provides purified immunoglobulin for passive immunization against HIV-1 wherein the immunoglobulin elicits a neutralizing response against two or more HIV-1 geographically diverse field isolates. The immunoglobulins are obtained from vaccinees immunized with an immunogen from the principal neutralizing determinant of the V loop from gp120 of globally diverse HIV-1 isolates. A method of treating or preventing HIV-1 infection by passive immunization is also provided.
