<p>PURPOSE: To provide a particle accelerator with a Cockcroft-Walton voltage doubling apparatus arranged in a radial direction, and its manufacture. CONSTITUTION: A particle accelerator 50 has a Cockcroft-Walton voltage doubling apparatus which provides a field in a linear axial direction and in a radial direction. This Cockcroft-Walton voltage doubling apparatus has capacitors 66, 70 arranged relatively each other in a radial direction so that a linear voltage rise is generated between the capacitors. This particle accelerator is manufactured by a method wherein a conductive foil is arranged on an insulating sheet, the foil is connected as the Cockcroft-Walton voltage doubling apparatus, and the insulating sheet with the foil is wound and adhered to a cylinder, so that capacitors arranged in a radial direction are formed.</p> |
