PURPOSE:To more exactly perform the recognition of a handwritten character by using a character recognition dictionary prepared by referring to an attribute storage means succeeding to the attribute of an input data display area. CONSTITUTION:By inputting a handwritten character in a handwritten character input display area 56 by an operator, a character recognition processing is performed for this inputted character as a character within a prescribed square, and the result is displayed on an area 56. In this character recognition processing, a character recognition dictionary limiting to pertinent data attributes is prepared, by referring to the data attributes of a character recognition dictionary and an attribue file. For instance, if a character is an address, a character recognition dictionary for address in which the data attributes are only alphanumerics, KANJI (Chinese characters) or numerals is prepared. Thus, because each character recognition corresponding to prescribed data attributes is prepared, a recognition ratio is improved by using this character recognition dictionary. |
