PURPOSE: To enhance the ease in reading indicated values by re-dividing the display range in a plurality of particular display ranges, and putting the indicated value in monotonous association with the rotational angle of a pointer. CONSTITUTION: Symbols 5 and 6 are arranged along circular lines 10 and 11, respectively, and a scaling 14 is provided between the circular lines 10, 11. An inner illuminator 16 and outer illuminator 17 are arranged along the circle lines 11 and 10, respectively, and an incandescent filament 15 is installed around the illuminators 16, 17. For example, if the speed range 0-280km/h is to be displayed, the indication of the speed 0 corresponds to the minimum rotational angleβof a pointer 3, being 45deg. in this case. The indication of the maximum speed 280km/h corresponds to the max. rotational angleγ, being 720deg. (two turns) in this case. The illumination is changed over from the outer illuminator 17 to the inner 16 at the time of exceeding the speed 120 km/h. Thereby the rotational angle of the pointer 3 increases or decreases monotonously while retaining the proportionality relationship with the speed indication, to reduce the burden on the driver.
