PURPOSE:To obtain a light-screening plate by mixing a transparent polymer- forming monomer with a metal salt of a phthalic acid deriv. represented by a specific formula and a thioamide deriv. or a thiourea deriv., and heat- polymerizing the resulting mixture. CONSTITUTION:A transparent polymer-forming monomer such as methacrylic acid is mixed with 0.3-20wt.% metal salt of a phthalic acid deriv. of the formula I (wherein R1 is H or lower alkyl; X is O or NH; R2 is a lower alkyl, or halogen-substd. -(CH2)n-, provided that -(CH2)n- may be substd. by phenylene; R3 is phenylene or cyclohexylene; Me is Cu, Pb or the like; m is 2 to 3; and n is 1 to 5) such as copper salt of acryloyloxyethyl hydrogenphthalate, and admixed with a polymn. initiator to effect heat polymn. thereof. Subsequently, the resulting product is admixed with a thioamide deriv. of the formula II or a thiourea deriv. of the formula III such as dibutyl thiourea (in the formulae II and III, R1 and R2 are each H, alkyl or the like) at the following molar ratio: metal/sulfur = 1/0.5 to 1/10. The resulting mixture is melted, cast when viscous, and further heat-polymerized to obtain a light-screening sheet of a transparent polymer. |
